Fantastic show! I have been wanting to hear more information about the banjo's origins for some time. I knew that it was from Africa, but that was all. Thanks Eli for bringing this information out, and thanks Daniel for sharing the cultural ties that this instrument has across continents. I began playing banjo in the Scruggs-style - but I am transitioning into clawhammer and it is great to know that this style is so closely related to the Jola technique. Love it! After listening to your show I am beginning to see my banjo playing as more than a hobby. It is really a link to my ancestors. How fabulous!
