Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies at ETSU

On today’s show I speak with Ed Snodderly and Roy Andrade, musicians and professors in Eastern Tennessee State University’s “Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies” program.  ETSU is the only place in the world where you can get an undergraduate degree in Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music, and I speak with Ed, a songwriter and Roy, an old time string band musician (with the Reeltime Travelers) about the history of the program and their great work with all of their fine students!  I also play recordings of their music, and of the music that they teach and play with their students.  Ed is the founder and owner of an amazing venue in Johnson City, TN called “The Down Home” and we also hear from him about how he got that venue started.
